I have painted a proper portrait of our president; It was sad to see that no official oil painted portrait of President Trump hangs in the National Portrait Gallery. I was not commissioned to do this. I did it because a fine painting should exist, of the most consequential president of our lives.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
Part of my desire to paint the official portrait is obviously for President Trump... but also for all of us to see the man we admire painted with dignity - not as nakedly bias, dishonest media portray him but as the serious American leader who believes in us and in our country.
Ultimately, traditional art is for the people. It acts as a symbol, to inspire, to uplift the soul and remind us of what life could be and ought to be. It would be nice for all of us and America to have something that reminds future generations about this time when the people stood with their hero against a corrupt system ... and won!
The Victory
President Trump has proven that against all odds one can and should fight for the Good, the True and the Beautiful. We’re all familiar with this in heroic fiction but he has done this in real life and continues to do so. He perfectly embodies the American spirit, it is legendary and wildly inspiring. A Hero like that serves as an example to us all and proves that the seemingly impossible is possible. To face every challenge with undaunted courage, to fight for a cause, to overcome all the obstacles and convert haters into followers, to overwhelm a corrupt system so completely that even the massive amount of cheating was not enough, was and always will be breathtaking.
More than anything this has served for me and I feel certain for others, as model to live by. My whole life I have been carried forth and buoyed by the heroic examples in fiction but to see it in reality has opened a whole other level of possibilities.
I was always a supporter but honestly, felt dragged down by the magnitude of systemic, Machiavellian opposition. His success was a spiritual release; an optimistic reappraisal of the potential and moral pursuit of a vital life.
The victory of 2024 is a reawakened commitment to the promise of Life. Fight! Fight! Fight!
